The Great Friday Festival is back! Limerick’s homegrown rock spectacular will again be held in a secret location in County Limerick on Friday 2nd of April.
Once again some of the best unsigned bands in the country will converge on Limerick including Funzo, Yukina and Limerick’s own Brad Pitt Light Orchestra to name a few.

Great Friday has been running in one form or another for almost eight years. Starting as a group of just five people, the event ran in a small suburban house for five years. That final house event attracted two bands, a dj, almost 250 guests and more than a few complaints from neighbours.

In 2008 organisers decided to move the event to an open location to allow its continued growth and were lent support from some of Limericks best bands including We Should Be Dead, Walter Mitty and the Realists and Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters.

Last year’s event fell on a beautiful sunny day in April and featured fifteen bands on the main stage and eleven Dj’s in the newly introduced dance tent. Limerick’s premier music venue Baker Place also got on board providing ‘The Bakery’ – a chill out tent where revellers can go to unwind.

The Great Friday Festival 2010 will see almost a dozen bands, eleven Dj’s and a number of acoustic acts providing entertainment as well as graffiti artists, magicians and firebreathers. The event will again be held in a secret location with buses departing from Arthurs Quay bus stop starting at 11AM and will run half hourly untill 10PM. The buses will continue to run from the festival site into the city untill 1AM. Great Friday is a bring your own beer event.

Tickets for this years Festival are available from www.greatfriday.ie, and Baker Place Limerick and are priced at €30 including shuttle from Limerick City.
Combo tickets are available priced at €50 and include coach from South Mall in Cork to the festival and back once the event ends. All profits from the event will be donated Rape Crisis Mid West ( formerly Limerick Rape Crisis Centre) founded in 1980 to provide a counselling & information service to adult survivors of rape and sexual abuse.

The third incarnation of Limericks home grown music fest is just around the corner! Music lovers are once again invited to line up at Arthurs Quay bus stop and be shuttled away to a world of music, magic and a day that will bring warm feeling of nostalgia when you’re old and grey!
